Monthly Archives: February 2012

Looking back at the past three months in politics and my previous post about the topic, I’d have to say pretty much only one of my last observations proved somewhat correct; that is politics would be nastier.

Almost everything else, well that went out the window. I still stand by observation/thought number 6 – Tony Abbott is still being Mr Negative. If nothing explodes within Labour for the next few months, there are likely to be some doubts about the Opposition Leader’s credentials to be an alternative PM.

But then Labour, being Labour one can never tell.

Seriously how does a party that ended 2011 with a carbon tax through, on the cusp of getting the MRT passed and with Peter Slipper’s defection to become the new Speaker of the Lower House squander all of those advantages that easily?

Best case scenario that I would prefer; Abbott gets toppled, Turnbull takes over. Election in 2013 – Libs win. Period.

Though with the coming semester and the upcoming release of ME3 I don’t think I’ll be paying all that much attention to politics – especially if it proves to be the farce that it has been throughout the past month.

Let’s get one thing straight: this isn’t a post criticising Kingdoms of Amalur (it’s hard for me to open fire when I haven’t played the demo or with the impressive lineup of staff behind the game’ s development). It’s just me being peeved off about a few of EA’s ‘tactics’ around it.

Next week Bleach resumes. IT’S FINAL ARC. FINALLY AFTER TEN YEARS IT’S GOING TO BE DONE. Cue Beethoven’s 9th Symphony.

Only three questions:

  1. How good will this final arc be?
  2. How long will the final arc be (it’s not going to be any good if the ‘final arc’ chugs on for another 2-3 years; which knowing Kubo it could. Plotkai.)
  3. Will it actually close the series off? (There are too many unanswered questions e.g. Ryuuken’s background, which division Isshin went to etc).

To be frank the series should have ended…two years ago when Aizen was defeated.

Nevertheless I do feel kind of sad given that Bleach that sparked off my interest in anime and that there will be no more material on Byakuya. Still it will be good to finally see what had originally been a good series, that devolved into a monstrous aberration that didn’t seem as though it was going to die anytime soon, put out of its misery.

Yeah it’s the end of an era!
